South Korea
CURRENT NEED:
Esther's and Sharon's Homes need beds for the expecting mothers staying in residence. In Korea most people sleep on pallets on the floor. However, the women at Esther's and Sharon's Homes are often in the final stages of pregnancy and a real bed will make the final months of their pregnancy more comfortable. Each bed costs $300 (this includes a bed and trundle bed).

Programs:
Family Foster Care - Approximately 400 babies are cared for in 310 selected foster homes until they are adopted.  The children are treated with the same love and respect as the foster families' biological children.  Wonderful bonds and attachment created between the child and the foster family serve to strengthen the bond that will be later established between the child and his/her adoptive family.

Eastern Babies' Home - located in Seoul, South Korea, provides a safe home for at-risk children.  Children are taken care of here before being placed in a foster home, adoptive home, or transferred to another care facility.

Jacob's Home - This orphanage is set up to care for children who are under 6 years old and whose parents have not relinquished their parental rights. Some of these children may be placed through domestic adoption with families living in Korea.  At the age of 6, these children are moved to a government-run orphanage for further care if their birth family is still unable to care for them or they have not been placed by domestic adoption.

Eastern Rehabilitation Center - equipped with modern conveniences and an excellent educational system, the Eastern Rehabilitation Center provides 100 children who have special needs with a home-like atmosphere where they receive quality care.  The center operates diverse rehabilitative programs are are appropriate to the age and condition of each child.

Love the Children Hospital - is affiliated with the Eastern Babies' Home in Seoul.  the medical team gives the babies quality care including physical check-ups, vaccinations, and regular medical treatments.

ESWS's Vocational Training Center - provides a place to learn and work independently for mentally and physically handicapped graduates of the ESWS School for the Handicapped.  The center offers students training, work opportunities, and guarantees each worker a minimum wage salary.  When appropriate, the center recommends workers for specific job opportunities within the local community.

Esther's Home and Sharon's Home - these programs were developed by ESWS to house unwed mothers.  These young girls often have no where to go due to financial difficulties and social prejudice. Each woman receives medical care and assistance before and after their labor & delivery along with professional counseling.  Both homes are a safe, nurturing environment where the women can plan for their baby's future along with their own.

Child Sponsorships - Child sponsorships are generated through Eastern Social Welfare Society. orphanCare International facilitates the correspondence and financial record keeping until the funds are sent to Korea. Sponsors are assigned a specific child by ESWS and will receive periodic updates on their child. Sponsorships of North Korean refugee families or single parents are also available.
