"Every day presents an opportunity
to be involved in a child's life and turn the tide of poverty,
loneliness, hunger, illness, and hopelessness into a wave of
love, security, and a chance for a better future."

Through Dillon's affiliation with
Buckner we are now able to offer aid to children and families in
Guatemala.

Buckner began its
Guatemala program in 2002 and the program has expanded from
volunteer mission trips to a partnership with the Guatemalan
government and programs offering ongoing training in foster
care, preventative health care, child care, residential care and
social services.
-
Residential Care -- residential care
in two homes, Casa Esperanza and Fundacion Salvacion. The
program is designed to give children a home with the
structure and support they need to heal and recover from a
family crisis or an abusive or neglectful situation.
-
Transition Ministries -- transition ministry program
serves children who are 14 years and over. The program
currently serves 10 teenage girls and seven teenage boys,
preparing them for independent living.
-
Single-Parent Home -- the Single Parent Home opened in 2007
to provide a small group-home environment for mothers. Staff
teaches the women how to properly care for their children
and maintain their focus on receiving an education.
-
Follow-up Program -- the follow-up program ensures long-term
sustainability of the Guatemala orphanages and evangelism.
