"Every day presents an opportunity
to be involved in a child's life and turn the tide of poverty,
loneliness, hunger, illness, and hopelessness into a wave of
love, security, and a chance for a better future."

Back to School Needs
________________________________________________
Thank You! (from one of last year's
recipients)
"Dear Dillon Donators,
I have grown up in a
difficult family situation. My dad passed away
early and my mom works hard to sacrifice herself for
me and my siblings. I try very hard to study, but
sometimes I think I might stop studying and work to
help my mom.
When I got the Dillon
scholarship it was a dream to me. I cried and my
mom cried too. To you, my friends, the amount may
not be big but to me and my family it is so big - it
is a dream.
There are many children ,
some are even more poorer than I am. I hope Dillon
can continue to help and give more dream to other
children.
I will study and be a good
child at home and a good student at school.
Thank you,
Doan Tien Dung, grade 8"

Each
year children across the U.S. start school amid
groans, complaints and perhaps some excitement.
Halfway around the world, a group of Vietnamese
children will also make their way to their first day
of classes, but they are the lucky ones. Dillon
International helps provide scholarships to those
children so they can afford the supplies, uniforms
and school lunch that most Americans take for
granted.
However, despite providing scholarships for more
than 200 children, there are still dozens of
children who won't attend school unless they receive
a scholarship. If you are interested in providing a
child with a scholarship, click on the donate now
button and donate today.

In 1999,
orphanCare International
accepted the
challenge to improve the lives of impoverished and homeless
children living in Vietnam.
Through the commitment of our
faithful donors, children's lives are being changed.

A playground was just installed
in Vietnam because of caring donors. Children who will remain in
the orphanage now have a safe place to play each day. This will
not only help increase their social skills with other children,
but will also aid their physical therapy. |

Educational Scholarships
- over 280 children in a remote region of Vietnam are unable
to attend school because their families are so poor that
they cannot afford to educate their children.
For example, the children in this
photo get their education by standing outside the school
window. Their families do not have the money to
send them to school so each day you can find them
here.... These children wait each Fall to find out whether their
scholarship applications have been approved and if they
will be able to school this year.
$100 will give a child a complete year of education.
For just $100/child per year, these children will have
the same educational opportunities as the children from
the village. Each scholarship pays for their
tuition, school books & supplies, uniform, a book bag,
and a new pair of shoes.

The Dillon Home for
Street Children - protects children who once were
forced to live on the streets in Vietnam digging through the trash looking for
items to sell in order to buy food.
We have partnered with a couple living in the area
who are committed to changing the lives of these
children. These children now have a place to
call home where they can receive a nutritious meal,
sleep safely at night and obtain an education so that they don't have
to remain in such poor living conditions in the
future. Many of the children have won awards
for excelling and one child has even competed in the
national chess championship.
$30/month will help care for the children in the Dillon
Home for Street Children.
Orphanage Care -
orphanCare International supports orphanages
throughout Vietnam. Daily living
needs are met for each of these children including
hot meals, clean clothing, a safe place to live and
play with loving caregivers to watch over each
child.
$50/month will help provide food, clothing & care for 2
children in a Vietnamese orphanage.

Heart Surgeries
-
We currently have 10 children waiting for their open
heart surgery. Thanks to a generous donor 8 children
received
urgently needed heart surgeries and are now back at
school and home with their very thankful families.
However, there are still children
in desperate need of heart surgery -- some in more
critical condition than others. A pediatric
heart surgery typically runs between $750 and $2,300,
but what a small price to save a child's life!
$2,500 donation would cover the pediatric heart
surgery, post-operative care, and travel expenses for a
child and one parent to be by his side

Family Medical
Grants - FAMILY...there is so much meaning in
this word. To the family pictured here it
means having the opportunity to stay together and
not be forced to break up the family for financial
reasons. The dad does what he can by painting
bicycle parts for resale. The mother takes
care of their home. Neither is able to work
outside the home for any length of time as they must
provide constant 'round the clock care for the their
son who suffers from severe cerebral palsy.
This gentle, loving family is thankful each day for
their time together. Because of a Family
Medical Grant they receive through orphanCare
International, they are able to have the
medicines and medical care desperately needed by
their son. They also receive an allowance each
month for food, clothing, mosquito nets and basic
household items. This grant also makes it possible
for the dad to seek a way to bring in extra income for
his family.
$780/year will provide food, clothing, and medical care
for a family such as this one struggling to stay
together. That is just $65/month
to help a family stay together!
