Through
Dillon
International's
affiliation with Buckner we are now able to offer aid to
children and families in Ethiopia. The assistance program in
Ethiopia began in 2007 when
Buckner officially formed its NGO while
simultaneously merging with the Bright Hope Organization.

Programs available include:
Care for
Children
•
Foster Care in Yeka,
Gulele and Addis Ketema; 461 children live in more than 200 foster
homes. Additionally, staff works with the families to develop a
plan to become economically independent within three years.
•
Prevention and Rehabilitation of Street Children is a six-month
training program offered to street youth in the Addis Ababa
area.
•
Institutional Childcare Adoption Center is
a temporary home for children waiting on a forever family. All
the children have been abandoned and are eligible for adoption.
• A
baby home for children from infancy to 3 years of age.
Community Aid
•
Vocational Skill Training and Community Program in Nazareth with
training in metalworking, leather, woodworking,
hairdressing and prosthetics.
•
Care and Support for people and families affected by HIV/AIDS
•
A Community Development Program involving 80 locals serving their
community as a change/development facilitators and providing
classes in social services, budgeting, economic development,
micro-loans, health care and English.
•
Distribution of fruit and vegetable seeds, vitamins and food to
over 300,000 farmers in the Oromia region.
• Basic Skills Training for disadvantaged women
• A
Community Development Center in Bantu which includes a school
with kindergarten through eighth grade, a church, a health
center and a water well. This is the first of 20 centers that we
plan to establish within the next 5 to 7 years.

Deniese and Jerry
Dillon recently traveled to several orphanages in
Ethiopia to learn more about the needs of the children and
visit several programs. While there they delivered shoes to the
children. These shoes will prevent the children from getting parasites that enter their body through the
soles of their feet.
